GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (May 28, 2015) – The George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies conducted a two-day tailored seminar titled “Role of Parliament in Security Sector Governance and Oversight” for 15 members of parliament from the Republic of Kosovo here on May 18 and 19.

The focus of this event was on contemporary security challenges within Southeast Europe and the role of parliaments in addressing them. Marshall Center faculty and invited experts engaged in interactive discussion with members of parliament on issues including organized crime and corruption, intelligence oversight, and lessons learned by other regional states.

“Seminar delegates and speakers showed a lot of experience and knowledge to contribute effectively to a successful seminar,” said Dr. Valbona Zeneli, professor of national security studies at the Marshall Center CISS, who led the two-day event.

The closing sessions of the seminar allowed the parliamentarians to comment on the status of current regional and Euro-Atlantic integration processes and ended in the expressed will to strengthen Kosovo’s participation in them, said Zeneli.
