GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (Sept. 23, 2015) - “In the majority of the world, the critical infrastructure is not uniquely or entirely owned by the government so a partnership between the government and the private sector should exist to manage cyber security risks in those environments,” said Marty Edwards, assistant deputy director of National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center, and director of Industrial Control Systems, Cyber Emergency Response Team at U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Edwards spoke this morning to 81 cyber-security professionals from 22 countries at the International Cyber Summit here at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies.

Edwards added, “Cyber does not necessarily respect borders so it’s also important for countries and nations to work together to achieve cyber security objectives.”

The Marshall Center and U.S. European Command are sponsoring this two-day workshop to discuss best practices for protecting the cyber aspects of Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources. The workshop ends today.
