GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (Feb. 5, 2016) – The Partner Language Training Center, Europe held a Language Enhancement Course graduation ceremony for 38 U.S. military linguists Feb. 5 at the center here.

Keith Wert, PLTCE director, gave special recognition to two linguists (French/Arabic) for scoring a “3/3” (Listening/Reading) for the first time in their career on the Defense Language Proficiency Test, which is considered to be equivalent to a native speaker.

PLTCE offers the five-week LEC in Arabic, Russian, Persian-Farsi and French. The minimum entry level for PLTCE is a proficiency of “2/2.”

LEC 16-02 started Jan. 4.

The center offers intermediate, advanced and specialized classroom instruction in 10 languages and dialects for about 400 U.S., NATO/Partnership for Peace Consortium military and civilian linguists each year.

The center also conducts classes in English language for another 400 international participants of the Marshall Center's resident security studies programs.
