GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (Feb. 29, 2016) - The second week of the Marshall Center's Program on Terrorism and Security Studies began with the PTSS Program Director James Howcroft discussing how to build a “Combating Terrorism Strategy” to the 76 participants from 45 countries.

This afternoon's session is with Shyam Tekwani, associate professor at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, who will be talking about “Media and Critical Thinking.”

Tomorrow begins with Undersecretary Emmanuel Trinidad Bautista, executive director of the Cabinet Cluster on Security, Justice, and Peace,  talking about "Executing Combatting Terrorism National Strategy in the Phillippines. The afternoon session will be Supervisory Special Agent Philip VanWyngarden, from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, speaking about "Terrorist Use of the Internet."

Wednesday, March 2, will begin with Denis S. Alexeev, from the Institute of History and International Relations at the Saratov State University in Russia, who will be talking about "Threats and Strategy in Eurasia." Tekwani will return for the afternoon session on "Threats and Strategy in Asia."

Dr. Benjamin P. Nickels, associate professor and Academic Chair for Transnational Threats and Counterterrorism at the Africa Center for Strategic Studies, will be talking about "Threats and Strategy in Africa" during the morning sesson on Thursday, March 3. In the afternoon, Tekwani will discuss a case study.

Friday, March 4, there will be a "Foreign Fighter's Overview and Panel" during the morning session, and a Foreign Fighters Combating Terrorism Strategy Practical Exercise.
