U.S. Air Force Col. Joseph Paradis

U.S. Air Force Col. Joseph Paradis joined the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in January 2025 as chief of staff. In this role, he oversees a team of more than 40 joint, multinational military personnel and manages staffing across the director’s group and four major directorates.

Prior to joining the Marshall Center, Paradis served as the director of engineering, logistics, and acquisitions for the 480th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Wing at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. Throughout his career, Paradis has held various key positions including deputy commander for the 497th ISR Group, where he oversaw operations supporting combatant and component commanders with intelligence capabilities. He also served as a Russian cryptologic linguist and intelligence analyst.

Paradis received his commission in 2001 through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps after completing his studies at George Washington University. A seasoned intelligence officer, he has deployed three times in support of worldwide contingency and coalition operations, amassing over 24 years of combined active duty and reserve service. His experience spans intelligence, operations, legislative affairs, strategic reviews, and executive support.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from George Washington University and a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University. He has completed various military education and training programs such as the Joint Staff and Command Program, Air War College, and the Reserve Component National Security Course.

His awards and decorations include four Defense Meritorious Service Medals, two Meritorious Service Medals, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, and two Air Force Commendation Medals.
