GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (Feb. 13, 2019) – About 20 students from the University of Applied Sciences in Neu-Ulm, Germany, visited the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies Feb. 13.

The Marshall Center is a 25-year old German-American security partnership that has produced generations of global security professionals schooled in American and German security policies.

German Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Mark Winkler, Marshall Center’s German public affairs non-commissioned officer, clearly explained the mission of the Marshall Center.

Then, Professor Dr. Ralf Roloff, the center’s deputy dean for resident programs, talked about global security threats and challenges.

The German-American partnership of the Marshall Center afforded the students a chance to enjoy an American cheeseburger at the Marshall Center Dining Facility on Artillery Kaserne. The dining facility allows Marshall Center program participants a place to eat their meals during courses and more importantly, to get to know each other to form long-lasting relationships.

The visit was part of the Neu-Ulm University’s Winter School, which is organized by Professor Dr. Michael Gutiérrez and covers international and environmental issues in the economy.

Winkler coordinates about 25 tours a year for Bundeswehr, local schools and universities, and once a year, for citizens from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area.
