About the Marshall Center

The George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies is one of six U.S. Department of Defense Regional Centers and the only bilateral Center, a unique German-American partnership between the German Federal Ministry of Defense and the U.S. Department of Defense.

The Marshall Center, with regional expertise and a vast network of security professionals, equips allies and partners with interoperable skills and institutional capacity to turn commitments into capabilities for European-led security. In line with U.S. and German priorities, the Marshall Center’s programs strengthen burden sharing, interoperability, and strategic access across the Euro-Atlantic.

Mission

Assess, align, and advance European-led security, deterrence, and defense through strategic analysis, skills-based training, and regional expertise.

Vision

A unique German-American partnership and strategically aligned transatlantic security network advancing peace through strength.

Dedicated in 1993, the Marshall Center maintains the legacy of its namesake and the Marshall Plan by fostering stability, cooperation, and shared responsibility in Europe.

As the security environment has evolved, so too has the Marshall Center.

In 2026, the Marshall Center will introduce a reimagined program plan that expands access, strengthens practitioner networks, and delivers policy-relevant, skills-based training to realize its mission and vision. This integrated model ensures the Marshall Center is positioned to continually assess the security environment and the requirements of allies, partners, and policymakers.
