GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (Sept. 24, 2015) – “No matter how you look at it when you have a high-level of corruption in a national government, you will have a weak, stressed economy,” said Joe Vann, adjunct professor at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies.

Vann presented “The Role of Parliament in the Fight against Corruption” this morning to 29 parliamentarians from Georgia and Ukraine during a two-day seminar on “The Role of Parliament in National Security Policy” at the Marshall Center.

Vann showed a world map that had countries shaded depending on the corruption and economic-growth levels. “It’s what I like to call the ‘Color of Corruption.’”

Marshall Center hosted this seminar to review current strategic security issues, such as cyber security, counternarcotics and illicit trafficking, counterterrorism, transnational crime, and share experiences and common ways to counter these threats.

The seminar began Tuesday, Sept. 22 and ended Thursday, Sept. 24
