German Element Hosts Friends of the Marshall Center

GARMISCH PARTENKIRCHEN (July 25, 2016) – The Friends of the Marshall Center Club were the guests of the center’s German military element at a special reception held at the Bundeswehr Officers’ Club in Mittenwald last Thursday, July 21.  

The Senior German Officer and Deputy Dean for Non-Resident Programs, German air force Col. Jörg Prescher invited the club members to an information evening. Together with German Deputy Director of the Marshall Center Johann Berger and Senior Commanding officer in Mittenwald Col. Michael Rüdiger Warter, presentations were made on latest updates from the Marshall Center, the German Armed Forces and tasks of the Barracks in Mittenwald.

The main purpose was to bring together the FOMC for a chat and offering a platform to talk about current topics.

 “Friendship is not a one way street and that's why it is an honor for us hosting you tonight,” said Berger.

COL Prescher highlighted how important the coalition between the Marshall Center and the FOMC members are and was very thankful for what the club did over the last 22 years.

The president of the FOMC, Prof.Dr. h.c Rudolf Faltermeier thanked COL Prescher for hosting them and promised, that the support of their club for the important Institution will go on in the future.

Founded 1994, the FOMC is a local club of about 45 members, supporting the Marshall Center with events that German and US government can’t support financially.  FOMC offers free cable car rides for participants, sponsors field trips to historical or tourist sites.  They also support center events like PASS Culture night, grill fests and other events that help participants feel at home.
