German Army Lt. Col. Arne Lossmann joined the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in October 2010. He currently serves as the acting course director for the Program in Cyber Security Studies and is the deputy department head of Transnational Security Studies.
Prior to his current assignment, Lossmann held positions as a program manager for different regions and departments in the Outreach Branch of the College of International Security Studies. In November 2019 he moved to the Resident Branch of the College as the deputy program director for the Cyber Security Studies Program.
Before joining the Marshall Center, Lossmann served from 2007-2010 as S3 staff officer requirements and force planner at the NATO Allied Command Transformation, Staff Element Europe, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Mons, Belgium. There he was responsible for the development and enhancement of military NATO requirements for explosive ordnance disposal, combat engineering and intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance.
Lossmann is a recipient of the German Armed Forces Cross of Honor in Gold (2020) and Silver (2000). He was also awarded the EUFOR–Operation Althea Service Medal and the European Security and Defense Policy Service Medal for his contributions to the EU’s military mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2007).
