Security in the 21st Century

Security in the 21st Century is a video podcast series that engages professionals from academia, think tanks, international organizations, the private sector, and government on major themes such as great power competition, transatlantic relations, and disinformation campaigns. Guests analyze contemporary threats challenging democracy and the liberal order as well as topics such as Russia’s and China’s foreign and domestic policy and ambitions. Policy recommendations for the transatlantic community on how best to approach this era of great power competition are discussed. These findings inform stakeholders and also our teaching and dialogue events here at the Marshall Center.

In each interview, the interviewee is asked questions about the nature of their work and publications while the three themes mentioned above act as guiding principles for the conversation. As each individual comes from a different sector, an integrated approach to understanding international security is achieved.  Interviewed personalities include Ian Brzezinski, Michael McFaul, and Eileen O’Connor.

Dr. Suzanne Loftus hosts the series. She is Professor of National Security and the Deputy Chair of the Strategic Initiatives Department at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
