Admissions

The Marshall Center brings together highly skilled emerging professionals in defense and security from across government sectors worldwide. Our goal is to ensure diverse international participation, drawing participants from both civilian and military institutions, including those in various practitioner and policymaker roles. To date, our programs have engaged over 16,700 officials from more than 166 countries. Participants in our programs gain critical knowledge, build enduring professional networks, and engage in meaningful discussions on today’s most pressing regional, transnational, and global security challenges.

To strengthen the capacity of partners in the defense and security sectors, we encourage U.S. and German Embassy representatives to collaborate with their respective Country Teams in nominating participants from a wide range of government ministries. These may include defense, interior, foreign affairs, emergency services, border protection, and intelligence agencies (both internal and external).

Government officials who meet the eligibility criteria and wish to attend a Marshall Center resident program should start the process by contacting their respective ministry or parent organization at least 120 days before the program begins. Ministries or organizations can then submit nominations through the U.S. or German Embassy liaison in their country. The Office of the Registrar must receive nominations no later than 60 days before the course starts.

Please note that the Marshall Center does not accept direct nominations for funded participants. All nominations must be submitted through the appropriate ministry and U.S. or German Embassy representatives. However, the Office of the Registrar is available to assist applicants in initiating the nomination process. Interested applicants can contact the Office of the Registrar at registrar [at] marshallcenter.org with their name, position, rank, contact details, and the course they wish to attend. The Office of the Registrar will then forward the request to the relevant U.S. Embassy representative for further coordination.

Additionally, the Marshall Center accepts a limited number of direct nominations for self-paying participants in resident courses, subject to seat availability and program capacity. Self-paying participants must meet the admissions criteria outlined in the specific course descriptions. For further information on the admissions process and course fees, applicants should contact the Office of the Registrar at registrar [at] marshallcenter.org (registrar[at]marshallcenter[dot]org).
