Seminar on Regional Security Participants Delve into Case Studies

GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (Jan. 28 2015) – Participants in the Seminar on Regional Security Studies examined case studies showing conflict, conflict management and lessons learned Jan. 28 at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies.
Seminar on Regional Security focuses specifically on regional security dynamics. This is the fourth iteration of this resident program at the Marshall Center.
Dr. René Rieger, from the Middle East and International Affairs Research Group, led the case study on Civil War in Libya.
Dr. Matthew Rhodes, Marshall Center professor of National Security Studies, led the case study on Bosnia-Herzegovina and Southeast Europe.
Vasili Kuchukhidze, from the office of the National Security Council of Georgia, led the case study on the August War of 2008 and its implications on Russo-Georgian relations.
Jasmina Rupp, from the Institute for Peace Support and Conflict Management, led the case study on the Syrian War - Prospects for Peace.
The rest of the day was spent in seminars.
