Marshall Center's Alumni Workshop Examines Anti-Corruption Policies, Measures, Solutions

GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (Feb. 2, 2016) - Our Global Countering Transnational Organized Crime Alumni Community of Interest Workshop – “Examining Anti-Corruption Policies, Measures and Solutions” began Feb. 2 and will end Thursday, Feb. 4. Below are some quick facts on this workshop:

This COI event is the fifth under the Program on Countering Transnational Organized Crime and is the second COI workshop since our program transitioned to a global program.
The workshop will include alumni participants from the Marshall Center, primarily from our CTOC program (Formerly CNIT – Countering Narcotics and Illicit Trafficking), as well as alumni from other U.S. Department of Defense Regional Centers.
COI events are an opportunity for continued interaction and cooperation among the alumni network, and an opportunity to examine in detail a topic relevant to CTOC.
This Marshall Center workshop for Regional Center alumni worldwide serves as a forum to examine the global scourge of corruption and review effective national, regional, and international anti-corruption approaches, measures, programs and policies.
There are 71 participants, including 65 alumni, from 48 countries including: 11 U.S. Africa Command region (9 nations); three U.S. Central Command region alumni; 30 U.S. European Command region; on U.S. Northern Command region; 11 U.S. Pacific Command region; (9 nations); and, 10 U.S. Southern Command region (8 nations).
Participant Overview: 60 participants are Marshall Center alumni, which is 85 percent of the participant population - 33 are from CNIT, 10 are from PASS, eight are from PTSS, two from SES, two from SCWMD/R, one from SSTaR and one from SSCB; 15 are from military organizations, 21 percent of the participant population; 56 are from law enforcement and other agencies, 79 percent of the participant population; 11 are female, 15 percent of the participant population; and 60 are male, 85 percent of the participant population.
Speakers: seven are from external agencies including the Chief of the Ukraine National Police; eight are facilitators with seven from the CISS faculty and one adjunct professor.
Overall objectives of this Global CTOC Alumni COI workshop are: Examine comprehensive approaches to countering corruption, to include best practices and effective anti-corruption measures, programs, and policies; Develop a functionally-based, globally-networked group of security sector professionals to generate sustained communication and facilitate concrete actions in countering security threats; and, Operationalize the network of CTOC-focused alumni from the Marshall Center and other Regional Centers by developing and strengthening ties between alumni, encouraging the exchange of ideas and collaboration, and enabling a platform for partners and stakeholders to engage with, support, and elicit feedback from alumni.
