Marshall Center Welcomes Romanian National Defense College

GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (May 13, 2022) – The Marshall Center welcomed 22 leaders and participants of the war college-level course of the Romanian National Defense College for a week-long seminar on regional security issues 9-13 May. Colonel Claudiu Girtonea, head of the Defense College’s Courses Management Department, led the delegation.

Following opening remarks by Marshall Center U.S. Deputy Director Brigadier General (retired) Timothy McAteer, seminar sessions included discussions of Russia and Ukraine, the broader Black Sea region, gray zone threats, NATO and EU strategic adaptation, China and Euro-Atlantic security, small state strategies, research support, and a scenario exercise.
