Marshall Center Begins Two-Day Baltic Cyber Defense Workshop in Riga, Latvia

RIGA (Feb. 22, 2016) - The George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies  began a two-day cyber defense workshop focused on “Whole-of-Government Cyber Strategy and Policy Development” for Europe’s Baltic region today in Riga, Latvia.

The workshop is supported by the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense.  Marshall Center Course Director for the Program on Cyber Security Studies Phil Lark is the moderator for the workshop.

The workshop opened with introductory remarks by Latvian State Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrejs Pildegovics, U.S. Ambassador to Latvia Nancy Bikoff Pettit and German Acting Deputy Head of Mission to Latvia Christoph Klarmann.  

Subject matter experts from the private sector and governments of Estonia, Latvia, U.S. and the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence will discuss cyber aspects of security strategy, policy, protection of critical infrastructure and other global perspectives with participants from a dozen European countries.
