COVID Impact on West Africa and Transnational Organized Crime (TOC)

The Countering Transnational Organized Crime (CTOC) Program conducted a virtual seminar focusing on West Africa and how transnational criminal groups have taken advantage of the COVID-19 environment. More than twenty Marshall Center CTOC alumni from the security and law enforcement fields registered for the virtual event. Practitioners from Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Guinea discussed the challenges their governments face in fighting TOC during a pandemic and explored whole of government approaches to combating TOC. These ongoing series of virtual events contribute to maintaining situational awareness and gaining valuable real-time insights into both common and unique trends that are not always in the news as well as reconnecting with the alumni base.
