German Elementary Students Learn about Security Policy at the Marshall Center

GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (July 15, 2015) – Dr. Ralf Roloff, senior German professor at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies,  talks about what international security policy means and what subjects are taught in this German-American educational institution to a combination class of third and fourth graders at the German elementary school Gröben at the Marshall Center here July 15.

The Marshall Center conducts a variety of unique programs involving thousands of officials from countries around the globe.

Currently, the Marshall Center offers eight resident programs that examine complex transnational, regional and international security issues:

  • Program on Terrorism and Security Studies
  • Program on Applied Security Studies
  • Program on Security Sector Capacity Building
  • Seminar on Regional Security
  • Seminar on Transnational Civil Security
  • Countering Narcotics and Illicit Trafficking
  • Program on Cyber Security Studies
  • Senior Executive Seminar

In addition to resident courses that focus on regional and transnational topics, Marshall Center's strategic interests include: the Trans-Atlantic Relationship; Great Power Competition and the role of Russia and China in Europe; Ukraine Defense Reform; the Western Balkans; the nexus between European and African Security Challenges; the High North; and, the Relationship between NATO and the European Union.

Roloff’s presentation was part of a Marshall Center Public Affairs Office tour program.

Each year, about 500 Bundeswehr, schools and other local visitors take part in the PAO tours conducted by German air force Senior Master Sgt. Mark Winkler, from the Marshall Center public affairs office.
