Colonel (GS) Schneider joined the Marshall Center in April 2024, where he serves as Course Director for the Program on Applied Security Studies (PASS).
Prior to joining the Marshall Center, Colonel (GS) Schneider was the Senior National Representative and Head of the German Detachment, as well as course director for the European Security Course and other courses, at the Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP). In this capacity, he also liaised with the neighboring Center for Security Sector Reform/Governance (DCAF).
Colonel (GS) Schneider has served in various leadership, politico-military affairs, and logistics positions within the Army, the Joint Support and Enabling Service, the German Command and Staff College, and the Ministry of Defense (Armed Forces Staff). Additionally, Schneider served in the German Military representation at NATO and the EU Military Committee, dealing with EU Plans & Policy and EU Operations. He deployed to Kosovo as Battalion Commander and to Iraq as Head of the German Forces in IRQ, OIR / CBI.
Colonel (GS) Schneider is an alumnus of the 43rd German Armed Forces General Staff Course in Hamburg and the 44th Israeli National Defense College in Tel Aviv. He has been awarded the Bronze Cross of Honor of the Bundeswehr and the Silver Cross of Honor of the Bundeswehr and was decorated with the Non-Article 5 NATO Medal – KFOR and the German Bronze Medal for Foreign Duty for his services with KFOR and Operation Inherent Resolve - Capacity Building Iraq.
