GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (Dec. 16, 2014) – U.S. Army Lt. Gen. (ret) Keith Dayton (third from left), director of the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, hosted a holiday reception Dec. 16 for the Mayor of the City of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Dr. Sigrid Meierhofer and members of the Friends of the Marshall Center at his home here.

Formed in 1996, Friends of the Marshall Center is an organization comprised of citizens from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, who sponsoring activities for participants attending Marshall Center resident courses.

These activities help participants, who are from around the world, experience the Bavarian culture while they are here.

The annual holiday reception at the Marshall Center director’s home is an event to personally thank the members of the Friends of the Marshall Center. 

The mission of the Marshall Center is to create a more stable security environment by advancing democratic institutions and relationships, especially in the field of defense: promoting active, peaceful security cooperation and enhancing enduring partnerships throughout the world.
