GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (Sept. 12, 2014) – U.S. Army Col. Robert Duggleby, Jr., the Regional Program Director for Black Sea – EURASIA, instructs the Foreign Area Officers on their role in the interagency process at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies Sept. 11. The class is part of the Eurasian Security Studies Seminar in which 21 FAOs from the Marshall Center and Eurasian region prepare for their upcoming assignments in the region.

The FAO Training Program has been on Sheridan Kaserne since May 1964 and is celebrating 50 years here. The seminar also includes a Field Study Module consisting of trips to U.S. European Command, U.S. Army Europe Headquarters and North Atlantic Treaty Organization Headquarters, and a Practical Module to prepare for life as a FAO.

The mission of the Marshall Center is to create a more stable security environment by advancing democratic institutions and relationships, especially in the field of defense; promoting active, peaceful security cooperation; and enhancing enduring partnerships among the nations of North America, Europe and Eurasia.
