GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (Dec. 7, 2016) - George C. Marshall European Center Black Sea and Eurasia Program Director Valbona Zeneli traveled to the United States last week and spoke to Florida State University undergraduate and graduate students in the Emergency Management & Homeland Security (EM&HS) Program, College of Social Sciences. 

During her three-day visit, Zeneli presented lectures on "Gender and Security" in the Women and Disasters course where students explore the unique role women play in all aspects of security including political impacts, economics, safety concerns, migration issues, and communications. She also spoke on "Transnational Organized Crime and Intelligence".

“The participants were very interested in both topics and that made for lively and interactive discussions. I think they not only learned more about the topics but also about the work of the George C. Marshall European Center,” said Zeneli.

Zeneli’s visit led to other one-on-one meetings with Florida State University Emergency Management & Homeland Security Program Director Audrey Heffron Casserleigh and former Marshall Center faculty member Army Col. (ret.) Robert W. Duggleby who is now a senior professor in the EM&HS program.

These meetings provide faculty and the Marshall Center valuable academic relationships that help improve and strengthen the programs here
