The Partner Language Training Center Europe (PLTCE) welcomed representatives from the Jordanian Armed Forces Language Institute (JAFLI) for a specialized STANAG 6001 testing course conducted under the NATO Defence Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP) Jordan initiative from July 13-17, 2026, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

The program is designed to strengthen language testing capacity within the Jordanian Armed Forces by providing targeted professional development, expert mentorship, and practical collaboration focused on internationally recognized standards for language assessment.

During the course, participants are working alongside a multinational team of Bureau for International Language Coordination (BILC) experts representing PLTCE, the U.S., Latvia, and Estonia. Together, they are developing and refining testing materials through collaborative item moderation, review sessions, and expert-led discussions. The hands-on approach enables participants to enhance assessment texts and test items while applying best practices in STANAG 6001 language test development.

“This program reflects the Marshall Center’s enduring commitment to building partner capacity, and in this case language interoperability, through education and professional collaboration,” said Timothy McAteer, Marshall Center deputy director. “By bringing together experts and practitioners from across the Alliance and partner nations, we are helping strengthen institutional capabilities that support interoperability, professional military education, and long-term regional security cooperation.”

The course is guided by SMART objectives and incorporates ongoing monitoring and expert support, ensuring participants continue to refine their knowledge and skills beyond their classroom experience. Through peer-to-peer engagement and sustained mentorship, participants gain practical tools to support the continued development of their institutions’ testing programs.

As fellow Partnership Training and Education Centres (PTECs), PLTCE and JAFLI share a commitment to advancing excellence in language education and assessment throughout the defense education community. Their collaboration underscores the value of enduring partnerships in developing professional expertise and institutional resilience.
