Adapting Education to Meet Today’s Security Challenges
May 29, 2026
The Marshall Center was honored to host Mr. Eric Geressy, senior advisor to the U.S. Secretary of War (Strategy), in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, May 29, 2026, for discussions on advancing European-led defense. "What you consistently hear from President Trump and Secretary Hegseth is peace through strength, and that begins in places exactly like the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies,” Geressy said. “The work being done here is fully aligned with their priorities and serves as a foundation for lasting security cooperation.”
During the visit, Geressy met with Marshall Center leadership to discuss the importance of aligning education and engagement with today's security environment and the role institutions like the Marshall Center play in preparing the next generation of security leaders.
"It is critical that we continue engaging with our partners at every level — tactical, operational, and strategic. These relationships matter," he said. "Many of the men and women who come through the Marshall Center will become the next generation of leaders in their nations. They will be future Chiefs of Defense, senior military commanders, and Ministers of Defense. The relationships built here today strengthen our collective security tomorrow. The work you are doing is not simply educational, it is strategic, and it directly contributes to a more secure and stable future."
