Partner Language Training Center Europe (PLTCE) Main Building during Spring

Mission:To provide enhancement, and specialized foreign language training to U.S. and NATO/Partnership for Peace military and civilian linguists.

The following programs are currently available and conducted to accomplish the mission:

• Language Enhancement Courses (LEC) in Arabic, French, German, Persian-Farsi, Serbian-Croatian, Russian (5-weeks).



• Iraqi/Moroccan/Sudanese Dialect Courses – A "Familiarization” course for speakers of Modern Standard Arabic (5-weeks).



• Russian General Proficiency Course - An intensive 15 week course to develop 2+, 2+ students General Profiency in Russian (on demand).



• Specialized Language Courses – These courses reflect the Center’s unique ability to create and present specific courses on demand that provide linguists with skills to meet operational requirements.



• CFE, OS, CITC (Russian)- Enrollees typically include U.S. inspectors as well as NATO military and civilian personnel. Course content is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current requirements. Principal advisor is the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). Following are currently offered:



• Consecutive Interpretation Techniques Course (CITC) - (3-weeks)



• Conventional Forces in Europe Course (CFE) - (2-weeks)



• Open Skies Treaty Terminology Course (OS) - (3-weeks).

The department is a dynamic organization that continues to provide the best possible foreign language education to a variety of customers, both within the framework of listed courses and in response to special requirements. The faculty and staff, consisting of over 20 civilian and military professionals, take pride in their flexibility and ability to serve the variety of needs of the Department of Defense, and NATO member countries.
