Conference requests can be made by any government agency within the European Command's (EUCOM) area of responsibility, except African Nations, which are handled by the Africa Center for Strategic Studies (www.africacenter.org). Non-governmental Organizations cannot request conferences and by regulation may only attend as speakers.
The Outreach Programs Directorate (OPD) executes 24 conferences per year and reserves some conferences as ‘Placeholders’ in order to respond to current topics. Conferences are typically 2-5 days in length depending on the subject matter. Please review the FY 06 calendar to see what Placeholders are currently available. A complete conference schedule can be found at the left in the Resource Menu / Outreach Programs Directorate (OPD) Schedules. Additional requests are always accepted in the event of cancellations or may be scheduled for the next Fiscal Year.
Please use the following form to request a conference at the George C. Marshall Center. Provide a clear, concise statement on the intended purpose and objectives of the conference. Requests should include specific agencies, ministries, etc that are able to meet the proposed objectives. All conference requests will be validated through the U.S. Embassy in the requesting country and are subject to further research. Valid requests compete for Placeholder positions and are approved by all stakeholders. Placeholders are filled approximately six months prior to the actual event.
