Keith L. Wert Director, PLTCE College of International and Security Studies
Keith L. Wert was reassigned to the Marshall Center from the Defense Language Institute English Language Center (DLIELC) in San Antonio, Texas, where he was the Chief of Operations and Overseas Programs. In that capacity, he managed DLIELC’s global effort to assist defense sponsored language training efforts in an average of twenty different countries each year while personally traveling to twelve different countries during the years 1992-1998. A high point of this effort was his supervision in 1995 of a base line study of the military language training capabilities of eleven Partnership for Peace (PfP) countries. In addition, his responsibilities included directing the military and civilian staff that provided training administrative support for and disciplinary control of 2700 international military and civilian students each year on the DLIELC campus. From 1988 to 1992 he was attached to the American Embassy in Rabat, Morocco, as a language training consultant to the Royal Armed Forces General Staff and he managed US assistance to English language programs that trained 1200 students a year across three Moroccan military services at seventeen locations. During the years 1976-1988, Keith served on the DLIELC campus as an English instructor, a teacher trainer for US and international faculty, and supervisor of American instructors. He also performed extended temporary duty assignments in Africa.
Keith has a degree in English from Hillsdale College.
