Captain Laurell A. Brault Director of Business Operations
As Director of Business Operations at the Marshall Center, Captain Brault has overall responsibility for the offices of Human Resources, Logistics, Resource Management, Security, Facility Engineer, Contracting, and the Information Management Division. She was assigned to the Marshall Center in July 2008.
Originally from Nassau, Bahamas, Captain Brault enlisted in the Navy in December 1974 and served as a Hospital Corpsman for 10 years. She graduated from Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island in February 1985 and was commissioned as an Ensign in the General Unrestricted Line community. Captain Brault was then assigned to the Comptroller’s Office on the staff of Commander, U.S. Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk, Va. In 1988 she graduated from Oceanographic Watch Officer School and was later designated as an Integrated Undersea Surveillance Officer. In 1994 she was assigned to Naples as the Operations Officer for Commander, Military Sealift Command Mediterranean.
In September 1996, Captain Brault became the Navy Element Commander at Headquarters, Allied Forces Southern Europe, for U.S. Navy personnel assigned to NATO in the Mediterranean theater. Following her Executive Officer assignment, she transferred to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Shore Installation Management. From January to December 1999, Captain Brault served as a Defense Fellow on the staff of Senator Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), where she provided staff support on national security and foreign affairs issues. Upon completion of her fellowship she was assigned as a Congressional Liaison Officer for Appropriations Matters on the staff of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Financial Management and Budget).
Captain Brault was assigned as the Director of Staff Support and Strategic Communications and later as the Fleet Support Officer Community Manager and Head Detailer at Navy Personnel Command in April 2000. In May 2004 she became the ninth Commanding Officer of the Naval Ocean Processing Facility in Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island, Washington State. Captain Brault was assigned to the State Department as the Deputy Director (Plans) in the Office of Defense Trade Controls Licensing, Bureau of Political-Military Affairs from July 2006 to July 2008.
Captain Brault has Master’s Degrees in Education Leadership from Troy State University and in Library and Information Science from St. John’s University, New York.
