Director Sponsored Research Program (DSRP):
The Director has established a Research Program Competition, which is directed and administered by the Research Department of the Marshall Center.
IIt is open to all Marshall Center employees conducting research on issues relevant to Marshall Center activities (The current SOP (ECMC-CL-RP-870-5F-1) on DSRP can be found under: http://mcintranet/admin/SOP.htm). There will be 6-8 awards granted per year. An invitation letter, which informs about an ongoing competition is send four times a year. Awards will generally not exceed $5,000 although larger awards are possible depending on the nature of research. Awards will include travel and other expenses associated with research.
Joint research with individuals and institutions from partner countries is encouraged. Applications should include all details of project such as:

Project milestones
CVs of all researchers including list of publications
Funding request with budget break out
Expected results: article, book chapter etc
Earlier DSRP funding should be listed including resulting publications
Results of Director Sponsored Research Projects have to be offered to the Marshall Center for publication first. Proposed topics must be relevant to the overall Marshall Center Mission of creating a more stable security environment by advancing democratic defense institutions and relationships; promoting active, peaceful security cooperation; and enhancing enduring partnerships among the nations of America, Europe and Eurasia and /or to the topics of actuality, relevant to the U.S. and German governments which presently are phrased as:
Terrorism, including waging the "Battle of Ideas" to delegitimize terrorism and support for terrorism.
Internal instability jeopardizing the territorial integrity of nation states, as well as regional stability and peace.
Regional and local crises that could turn into transnational threats and/or spur transnational terrorism.
Proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and attempts to prevent it (missile defense; arms control regimes).
Missile defense.
New role of NATO.
Implications and applicability of the revolution in military affairs, information revolution, and interoperability.
Peace and stabilization operations, crisis management for humanitarian and emergency situations.
Dialogue between Western nations and Islam.
Role of the European Union (EU) after enlargement.
Relationship between EU and NATO.
