Kosovo/U.N. Alumni Association Holds Second Security Cooperation Roundtable.

On 9 October the Kosovo/U.N. Alumni Association held their second alumni roundtable, “Security Architecture in Post Conflict Areas, Kosovo as a Case Study.” Dr. Matthew Rhodes, Marshall Center Professor of National Security Studies, spoke on the topic of security governance, and moderated two panels for the audience of approximately 100 security professionals, including more than 50 Marshall Center alumni in Kosovo/U.N. The first panel, on the topic of security challenges in Kosovo, consisted of Mr. Lulzim Peci, Executive Director of the Kosovar Institute for Policy Research and Development, BG William Wolf, KFOR Chief of Staff and Mr. Alessio Zuccarini, Principal Political Advisor on the European Union Planning Team for Kosovo. Following light refreshments, MG Rhahman Sylejmani, Deputy Commissioner for Crimes, Kosovo Police Service, spoke on the role of the Kosovo police service in fighting crime. Then the second panel, which addressed Kosovo security force challenges, consisted of BG Douglas Earhart, U.S. Army, Commander of MNTF-E, Maj Gen Martin Rutledge, U.K. Army, Kosovo Protection Corps Coordinator and LTG Sylejman Selimi, Kosovo Protection Corps Commander.

Participants were from the Prime Minister’s Office, Parliament, Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Kosovo Police Service, Kosovo Protection Corps, UNMIK, and other security institutions in Pristina.
