Serbian Alumni Association holds Forum on ‘Energy Security’

On September 24 the Serbian Alumni Association held their 8th Forum, entitled Energy Security. Over 75 security experts, including government officials, university professors, students, and members of NGOs, the media and commerce, heard presentations from Marshall Center Associate Director for International Liaison, Amb. David Litt, and former Marshall Center Professor, Dr. Roger Kangas. Amb. Litt gave the keynote address on ‘Diplomacy and Energy Security.’ Dr. Kangas, who is now a professor at the Near East South Asian Center for Strategic Studies in Washington, D.C., spoke about ‘Securing Energy: Sources, Supplies and Geopolitics.’ To conclude, energy consultant Mr. Aleksandar Kovacevic gave the audience the background to Serbian energy security issues. On the following day, Amb. Litt and Dr. Kangas presented guest lectures at the National Defense School to approximately 50 officers, looking at energy instability and the role of the military. The presentations on both days were followed by interesting and lively discussions.
