Alumni Association in Bosnia-Herzegovina hold their first security roundtable

Marshall Center Alumni Association Bosnia-Herzegovina in conjunction with the US Embassy and the Marshall Center held a security roundtable entitled, ‘BiH in PfP – Societal Implications and a Way Ahead’ in Sarajevo on 19 June.
Over 30 alumni from BiH and guests who were alumni as well as participants at the Marshall Center Conference being held at the same time, had the opportunity to hear a keynote address by the newly appointed Minister of Defense and Marshall Center alumnus, BG (ret.) Selmo Cikotic (SES 2000-4). Marshall Center German Deputy Director, MG (ret.) Dr. Horst Schmalfeld also gave opening remarks. Noteworthy attendees were Chief of the Joint Staff LTG Sifet Podzic (EP 2001-4), Chief of the Office of Defense Cooperation LTC Walt Kennedy and Croatian Defense Attaché and alumnus COL Nenad Predovan (EP 2001-1).
Guest speakers included Marshall Center Professor Dr. Matt Rhodes who spoke on ‘Democracy in Southeast Europe’ and NATO Political Advisor in Sarajevo, Mr. Bruce McLane, who presented ‘Regionalize or Balkanize? – the Path toward Euro-Atlantic Integration.’

Minister of Defense Cikotic underlines the role the Marshall Center plays as a focal point for global issues through the cultural dialogue and exchanges it encourages.
