Graduate Support Office announces ‘Graduate of the Month’ for June

Beginning with March 2007, the Marshall Center Graduate Support Office will select and feature a Marshall Center “Graduate of the Month.” The purpose of this initiative is to feature Marshall Center alumni who are playing an active role in furthering the ideals of the Marshall Center in creating a more stable security environment by advancing democratic institutions and relationships; promoting active, peaceful security cooperation; and enhancing enduring partnerships among the nations of North America, Europe, Eurasia, and beyond.

Dr. Zoran Jeftic Featured as Marshall Center “Graduate of the Month”
Congratulations to Dr. Zoran Jeftic, State Secretary (Deputy Minister), Ministry of Defense and Acting President of the Marshall Center Alumni Association of Serbia, for being selected as the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies Graduate of the Month for June, 2007.
Jeftic first attended the Marshall Center for the Leaders Course (2002-6) as a researcher in the Serbian Defense Ministry’s Defense Policy Department, having been nominated by his ministry. After graduating, in 2003 he became the Chief of the NATO Cooperation Department, MOD.
Jeftic returned to the Marshall Center in 2005 to attend the first PASS course, EPASS 2005-1, and later that year was appointed Assistant Minister for Human Resources. In this role his Marshall Center experience helped him expand his knowledge and improve his management skills. He returned again to attend SES 2006-3, “Countering Ideological Support for Terrorism: Opportunities and Limitations in the Battle of Ideas” and in June 2006 he received his PhD from the Faculty of Security, University of Belgrade.
From November 2004, when Jeftic was elected Deputy President of the Serbian Alumni Association, which was formally registered in October 2004, he has played an active role in planning and executing the eight forums the association has organized to date.
In 2007 Jeftic took over the post of Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation, General Staff and assumed the post of State Secretary of Defense on 25 May 2007.
