Marshall Center Graduates Hold First Alumni Event in Turkey

On 15 May 2007, the Marshall Center graduates of Turkey held their first alumni event in Ankara. The event began with an overall update on Marshall Center changes by Marshall Center Director Dr. John Rose, which was followed with a graduate support briefing by COL (Ret) Rick Steinke, Chief, Graduate Support Office. The highlight was a security roundtable with a series of briefings presented by Marshall Center professors Lt Col David Kirkham, USAF (“Religious Liberty and Extremism”); Dr. Jay LeBeau (“Salafist Terrorist Recruitment”) and James Wither (“Negotiation with Terrorists: Pragmatism or Appeasement?”). The event was immediately followed by a networking opportunity for the more than 35 Marshall Center graduates and security professionals from Turkey, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, Romania, Russia and the United States.
