Romanian alumni hold forum as part of their ‘Dialogues’ series

Approximately 170 security officials and Marshall Center alumni gathered at the Military Circle on 8 May to hear discussions on “European and Euro-Atlantic Romanian Foreign Policy: Realities and Prospects." Guest speakers included Senator Mircea Geoană, President, Foreign Affairs Committee and Marshall Center Associate Dean (GE), Dr. Detlef Puhl.
Dr. Puhl took the opportunity to discuss the challenges and threats that face Europe at the moment and emphasized the role that Romania plays as part of a strong alliance and a strong European Union. Senator Geoană addressed the role Romania should play in the EU and NATO, highlighting the most immediate challenges for Southeast European security and Romanian foreign policy.
Attendees included approximately 50 alumni, US Embassy Office of Defense Cooperation and German Embassy representatives as well as the President of the Moldovan Alumni Association who was invited as part of the continuing effort of the Romanian Alumni Association to build partnerships with other associations.
