Mr. Csaba Asztalos (LC 2004-7), President and Ms. Madalina Rosu (LPASS 2006-4), Director, Steering Board, National Council for Combating Discrimination recently organized a conference entitled “Human Rights Dimension in the Security Framework.” The George C. Marshall Association –Romania, the Presidential Administration and both the US and German Embassies co-sponsored the one-day conference held in the National Military Center. Marshall Center professors, Dr. Adreas Hildenbrand, Dr. Matt Rhodes and COL Peter Schneider supported the conference, presenting the topics ‘The European Union as Security Actor,’ Human Rights and Security Measures’ and ‘Migration and Minorities’ respectively. General (ret.) Dr. Constantin Degeratu, State Counselor, Presidential Administration and former Marshall Center professor as well as US Ambassador to Romania, H.E. Mr. Nicholas Taubman gave opening remarks. Approximately 180 government officials, military officers, members of parliament, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and journalists attended the conference, 70 of which were alumni.
The following day the Marshall Center professors traveled on to Brasov to deliver lectures to 35+ faculty, staff, and course participants at the Regional Department for Defense Resource Management Study.
