A Marshall Center graduate-led Security Cooperation Roundtable took place in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia on 4 April 2007. The roundtable was organized and moderated by Dr. Nika Chitadze (LC 1999-2), President of the Marshall Center Alumni Union, Georgia. Dr. John J. LeBeau, Marshall Center Professor of National Security Studies, spoke on “Terrorist and Counterterrorist Structures and Methods.” LTC Alan Hester, U.S. Defense Attaché, made opening remarks. Dr. Chitadze also gave a presentation entitled, “Terrorism as One of the Main Threats to the National Security of Georgia.” This alumni roundtable was conducted in coordination with the Partnership for Peace Consortium Combating Terrorism Working Group, which was held in Tbilisi April 2nd through the 4th. Dr. Valerie Lofland of the Marshall Center’s PfP Consortium Operations Staff, and Mr. Bogdan Udriste, Anti-Terrorism Adviser, OSCE Mission to Georgia, and Marshall Center alumnus from Romania (PTSS 2005-7), were instrumental in providing the conference facility and interpretation services for the event. The roundtable was attended by approximately 40-45 military and civilian government officials, including 35 Marshall Center alumni.
