Romanian Alumni meet with Marshall Center Professors
February 12, 2007
While the PfP C Greater Black Sea Area Working Group was meeting in Bucharest 11-13 February, working group members from the Marshall Center took the opportunity to speak to a group of alumni on 12 February. Dr. Valerie Lofland of the PfP Consortium along with Marshall Center Professor Dr. Andrew Michta and Associate Dean (GE) Dr. Detlef Puhl met with approximately 40 alumni to discuss “Black Sea Area Security and Defense: Realities and Prospects.” The alumni also received an update on Marshall Center events and future developments. The group took part in a lively debate and fielded questions.
On 15 February the Romanian Alumni Association, in conjunction with the Minister of Defense, Dr. Frunzaverde, held a conference at the National Military Circle, addressing Romania’s European and Euro-Atlantic security and defense policy. As part of the program individuals were recognized at what has become an annual award ceremony. COL (ret.) Andrei Covrig, President of the Marshall Center Alumni Association, was one of those recognized at the medal ceremony for 2006 for his outstanding contribution to the development of relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova and the promotion of European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
