A Marshall Center graduate-led Security Cooperation Roundtable took place in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia on 6 February. The roundtable was organized and moderated by Dr. Gayane Novikova (EP 2002-4, SES 2003-3), President of the Marshall Center Alumni Association in Armenia, and Director General, SPECTRUM Center for Strategic Analysis. The keynote address was given by MG (Ret.) Dr. Horst Schmalfeld, Marshall Center German Deputy Director, who spoke on “Security Cooperation in a Contemporary World.” U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Anthony Godfrey gave opening remarks. MG Dr. Hayk Kotanjian, Head of the Institute for National Strategic Studies, Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Armenia, and MC graduate (SES 1998-2), gave a presentation entitled, “Methodological Cooperation with the American, European, and Russian Partners on Interagency Elaboration of the Armenian First National Security Strategy.” Col James Howcroft, USMC, Marshall Center Professor, also participated in the event. The roundtable was attended by fifty experts from an inter-ministerial audience, including more than thirty-five Marshall Center alumni.
