Serbian Alumni hold the last of their Security and Society Forum series on National Security Planning

On 20 December the Marshall Center Alumni Association of Serbia held a security roundtable. Over 130 Serbian government officials, senior Ministry of Defense officers, international diplomatic representatives, NGOs, business leaders, U.S. Embassy officials and local university students attended. The event, held in the Assembly of Serbia, included approximately 35 Marshall Center graduates and several graduates from other countries serving in Serbia.
The program included a keynote address by Mr. Zvonko Obradovic, State Secretary, MOD on ‘National Security Planning and Threats of Global Terrorism’. This was followed by two panels. The first headed by Marshall Center Professor, Dr. Robert Brannon, who spoke about the ‘US National Security Planning: From Idea to Realization’. The second panel was led by Dr. Mitar Kovac who spoke on the topic of ‘National Security Strategy of the Republic of Serbia.’ Open discussion followed each of the panels. After the Forum, the Serbian Alumni Association held their annual meeting where Mr. Rick Steinke, Chief, Graduate Support updated the graduates on the latest Marshall Center initiatives.
On the following day Dr. Robert Brannon spoke on ‘Civil Military Relations in Post Authoritarian States’ to around 40 officers at the National Defense School. This was the fifth lecture given at the school by Marshall Center professors.
