Serbian Alumni explore terrorism themes at their latest Forum

Over 150 security sector specialists gathered at the Sava Center in Belgrade for the Security and Society Forum: ‘Terrorism and Religious Extremism’ to discuss the importance of networking to combat terrorism, web-based terrorism and perspectives of religious terrorism in Southeast Europe. Mr. James Roberts, US Deputy Director, Marshall Center and Professor Katharina von Knop, Adjunct Professor, Program on Terrorism and Security Studies, Marshall Center were guest speakers along with Dr. Zoran Dragisic and M.A. Darko Trifunovic, University of Belgrade, Faculty of Security. Participants included Marshall Center alumni, University of Belgrade students and faculty, the National Defense School, foreign embassy officials as well as officials from the security sector of Serbia. The alumni used the Forum to present the Marshall Center Paper No. 7 in Serbian. In addition, two Alumni Association commercial books, translated into Serbian, were offered to participants.
While in Belgrade Mr. Roberts and Professor von Knop took the time to speak to the students from the Faculty of Security and presented a lecture on the following day to the National Defense School. Mr. Roberts spoke about the development and evolution of suicide bombers and Professor von Knop presented a comparative analysis of suicide bombings.
