Marshall Center US and international alumni serving in the National Capitol Region had the opportunity to network and meet with Marshall Center LPASS students as well as former professional staff on their recent field study trip. A total of 95 attended the event, held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Marshall Center Director Dr. John Rose opened the event, introducing the guest speaker, Mr. Michael Coulter. Mr. Coulter, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, outlined the current strategic issues to include the establishment of AFRICOM and the ongoing efforts in Afghanistan.
At the close of the event Dr. Rose took the opportunity to present the Air Force Achievement Medal to Maj. Erik Brine (LPASS 2006-1). Maj. Brine’s unit originated the award to recognize his efforts in initiating a US alumni association in November 2007 and in organizing a program of events for alumni during the last PASS trip to Washington at that same time. The alumni hope to continue this initiative with the next networking event planned for the autumn. For more information contact Capt. Erik Brine.
