Adm. Mike Mullen

Adm. Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint
Chiefs of Staff

WASHINGTON D.C. - Adm. Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, speaks to participants in the Marshall Center's Program in Advanced Security Studies Nov. 15 at the Pentagon Conference Center. The briefing was one of three that morning, including Ms. Jennifer Walsh, Principal Director for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia from the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy; and Mr. Paul Hulley, Principal Director for the Office of Partnership Strategy and Stability Operations in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Participants in the program are in Washington as part of a week-long field study to look at the way the U.S. government works and to have the opportunity to speak candidly with U.S. military and government leaders. The group that visited here is comprised of 71 junior-level military and civilian officials from 27 countries, about half of the entire program. The other participants are in Berlin for a similarly-themed field study to German governmental offices.
