To ensure a smooth TDY, please read and follow the below requirements for registering and reporting to the PLTCE.
Only a Command Language Program Manager (CLPM) can register a student unless the student is remotely assigned. To register, CLPMs or students must fill out and send the registration form (Optional: Form Guide) to PLTCE no later than 3 weeks before the start of class. Also, prior to arrival, PLTCE needs a copy of the student's latest DA 330, DLPT scores.

Effective 24 August 2015, civilian clothing is mandatory for all students attending PLTCE. All military service regulations governing the wear of civilian clothes while performing official duties apply. Business casual dress code is strongly encouraged.
The PLTCE is located on Artillery Kaserne in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, about 95 kilometers south of Munich, Germany, off of the A95 autobahn. The airport closest to Garmisch-Partenkichen is Munich International. Students must take the train to travel from the airport to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Taxi costs are not reimbursable. Train schedules and information are available at the Deutsche Bahn - English Version Website. If you have lost luggage, keep a copy of the luggage receipt stuck to the plane voucher and have luggage delivered to: Breitenauerstr. 16, Geb. 253, Zi. 1, 82467 Garmisch-Partenkichen (contact phone: 08821-750-3487). There are taxis available at the Garmisch-Partenkichen train station. Tell the driver to go to Breitenauer Strasse or Artillery Kaserne, Bldg 253.
In-processing is from 1100-1700 (11am-5pm) on the Sunday before the start of class, in room 001, bldg 253. Students will be asked for a copy of their orders (PLTCE has copiers), and a method of payment. The student will have to check the "Student Information" sheet for accuracy and sign it, will be issued linen and keys, and will sign an inventory sub-hand receipt and key log. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday in the dining facility and breakfast is at 7 a.m. Monday morning. A mandatory briefing is at 9 a.m. Monday in the basement auditorium of bldg 253. Duty uniform is required for this briefing.
As PLTCE has limited bed space, reporting at any other time must be pre-arranged with the course coordinator or the MLI/NCOIC two weeks prior to class or the student might have to stay a night on the economy at their unit's expense. The LEC students are housed in renovated German barracks. The facilities consist of single and double rooms that are equipped with comfortable furnishings. Each room has a TV and DVR/ VCR with satellite hookup and a small refrigerator. Televisions have access to channels that support the majority of languages PLTCE teaches. Restricted Wi-Fi is available in the barracks and the schoolhouse. Government laptops will be provided to access this network.
All electrical outlets are 220V (transformers will not be issued). Some rooms have sinks, there are no private shower facilities. Recommended items to bring are towels, washcloths, hair dryers (220v), shavers (220v), toiletries, shower shoes, headphones and a travel alarm clock. Bed linen is a one-time issue, but students may bring their own. There will be no linen exchange; washers and dryers are provided for the washing of linen and clothing. Both buildings have a communal kitchen that is to be kept clean on a daily basis.
Students are advised to not show up unannounced; they might be returned home at their unit's expense. Students must arrive with a copy of their temporary duty orders and military ID card. A passport is not required but is highly recommended as it is required for travel to other countries. Graduation is the last Friday of the course at about 3 p.m. Students must clear the barracks by 0900 hrs, Saturday, unless coordinated with the MLI / NCOIC.
