Global Counterterrorism Alumni Community of Interest Workshop will be held at the Marshall Center Aug. 29 to Sept. 1. (Marshall Center Graphic)

Dates: Aug. 29 to Sept. 1

Title: “Radicalization and De-radicalization of Terrorists in Prison: What can we do about this Important Issue?”

Objectives:

  • Enhance the value of the Marshall Center’s and U.S. DOD regional centers’ network of countering terrorism alumni by strengthening ties and encouraging the exchange of ideas and collaboration.
  • Provide an avenue for partners and stakeholders to engage with, support and benefit from the alumni network.
  • Discuss and exchange ideas, best practices and recommendations of how to deal with terrorists in prison.
  • Use the knowledge and experience of Marshall Center and other DOD Regional Center graduates to contribute to the relevance and currency of subsequent Marshall Center PTSS courses.

Course Deputy Director: U.S. Navy Capt. Thomas Welsh

Number of times the workshop has been held: This is the ninth successive Counterterrorism Alumni Community of Interest event that started with an inaugural workshop in October 2010.

Class Composition/demographics:  56 alumni from 40 countries. There are four females and 60 males. There are 29 from the military and 33 from civilian and law enforcement agencies.
