The Research Program has completed four book-length publications as well as a variety of articles since its inception. Its first book, Military and Society in 21st Century Europe: A Comparative Analysis, was published in 2000 by LIT Verlag in Hamburg and Transaction Publishers in the US. The book explored the state of civil-military relations in countries across Eastern and Western Europe and the Russian Federation in the period directly after the end of the Cold War.

The Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Federation published the Russian edition of the book, Военные и Общество в Западной и Восточной Европе - Сравнительное Исследование in June 2000. This book has been used in teaching courses at the Marshall Center as well as at other European and American institutions. It has also been translated into Spanish for use in the Chilean military educational system.
